IVF - Italy is going backwards - after the Italian government created LAW40 -
Oldest women to give birth naturally (elegantly.)
New laws making it more difficult for couples to get fertility treatment in Italy are starting to have an impact.
Since Italy's new fertility law was passed five months ago, the success rate for treatments has dropped from one-in-four to one-in-nine.
Catholic politicians across the political spectrum supported the clamp down on Italy's traditionally liberal approach to fertility treatment.
But the laws are frustrating couples trying for children
Basically their new law says that the fertility clinics are not allowed to freeze embryos or test them for genetic disorders or for the couple to use a surrogate-
The stats for IVF working first time are incredibly low therefore these new laws (I can hardly believe I am writing this) makes for it to be very difficult for couples trying to have a baby through the IVF process. The most difficult part of IVF is the protocol for the women to create the eggs which in turn create embryos. It can take a couple at least 3 tries to find the perfect recipe for them? also this law does not allow for donor eggs which means if a women has run her course using her own eggs she will not be able to avail of the Free ivf in Italy. Its like a religious trick 'Judas
' in the bible... a portrayal of sorts. Giving you the opportunity but restricting enough so that it won't work seems to me to be worse than offering it free to begin with???
